Hello everyone!
My name is Alexandra Papatheodorou and I will be the Deputy President of the Council of Europe in Rhodes MRC 2012. I am a student in the University of Macedonia, faculty of International and European Studies, and this will be my thirteenth conference. In my free time, I like traveling, meeting new people and discovering new places, reading books, hanging out with friends, playing with my cat and going for a walk by the sea.
Having taken part in conferences in Greece and in other countries around the world, I can assure you that Rhodes MRC is an excellent experience, with high standards of discussions and organization. But apart from that, one of the things that make it special, is that it is one of the few conferences that simulates the Council of Europe. This organization asks for the voice of the whole of Europe on serious topics of today’s international agenda that affect our lives as European citizens; and this is where your role begins. It will be a great experience and a great challenge at the same time, to reach a unanimous decision concerning the further steps towards the future of this continent. You will gain precious knowledge on the topics, while learning how to defend national policies but also compromise, in order to reach a solution.
I share your excitement for the conference and I strongly encourage you to work hard, prepare well and participate as much as you can, in order to make it a memorable and fruitful experience. However, as some of you may know, simulations are not only about effort and work, it is also a great deal of fun! You will meet lots of interesting people, make new friends, and discover beautiful Rhodes!
As a member of the Board, I will be there for anything you need, so if you have any questions or problems, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Can’t wait to meet you all in person!
